Thanks to all who participated in the 2014 Miles for Myles event! It was a fantastic day for all. Check out results and photos by Eric Vickery.
This event is dedicated to Myles John McCarron, who died at age sixteen because he rode with his friends in a speeding vehicle.
All race proceeds will go towards the completion of our athletic facility and to endorse the message "No Need To Speed".
This was the thirteenth annual Miles for Myles community event. To date we have raised over $200,000 in race proceeds! Thank you to all of our generous sponsors and to all who have participated in this wonderful community event!
In 1999, a band of highly motivated, dedicated, not-about-to-be-discouraged parents, coaches, and teachers formed a nonprofit organization to address the critical need for athletic facilities in this town.
Their vision: build a six-lane all-weather rubberized track surrounding an all-purpose artificial turf playing field to be used for a multitude of sports and ages. Add adjacent practice fields, bleachers, fencing, landscaping and this will be one first class facility!
It's happening and you're part of it! The new turf field and track have been installed. We have accomplished a lot but have much more to do. The Miles for Myles is our major fund-raiser.
