The 14th Annual Miles for Myles
Despite the blustery weather the event attracted 620 participants!! The course record was broken by Chris Kibler with a time of 15:44. Check out some great photos from Eric Vickery, follow link from "Results & Photos".
LTAFA and Miles for Myles have combined efforts with the Lunenburg PTO for the annual Miles for Myles Event. The Lunenburg PTO gives back to our school district yearly by providing funds for non-budgeted items such as technology, in-house speakers, materials, programs and supplies as well as helping to defer costs for student field trips. Collaboration with the PTO allows us to broaden our scope to give back to the community and continue our
No Need to Speed® campaign.
This event is dedicated to Myles John McCarron, who died at age sixteen because he rode with his friends in a speeding vehicle.
In 1999, a band of highly motivated, dedicated, not-about-to-be-discouraged parents, coaches, and teachers formed a nonprofit organization to address the critical need for athletic facilities in this town.
Their vision: build a six-lane all-weather rubberized track surrounding an all-purpose artificial turf playing field to be used for a multitude of sports and ages. Add adjacent practice fields, bleachers, fencing, landscaping and this will be one first class facility!
It's happening and you're part of it! The new turf field and track have been installed. We have accomplished a lot but have much more to do. The Miles for Myles is our major fund-raiser.
